-Fans who have been following Charlie Parr, Duluth-based songwriter, has a way of carving a path straight to the gut. On his newest record, Dog, however, he seems to be digging deeper and hitting those nerves quicker than ever before.-

–An easily confused and very shy individual, Charlie Parr has been traveling around singing his songs ever since leaving Austin Minnesota  in the 1980’s in search of Spider John Koerner, whom he found about 100 miles north at the Viking Bar one Sunday night. The experience changed his life, made him more or less unemployable, and brings us to now: 13 recordings, 250 shows a year or more, 200,000 miles on a well broke in Kia, and a nasty fear of heights. Resonator fueled folk songs from Duluth Minnesota.-

Stephen Stills & Judy Collins ::

Stephen Stills & Judy Collins Date: Friday June 08, 2018
Time: 7:30 PM
Location: Coronado Performing Arts Center

Tickets

50 years ago, singer-songwriter Stephen Stills met singer-songwriter Judy Collins, known for her piercing ocean blue eyes. Their tumultuous love affair would later be immortalized by Stills with his composition “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” performed by Crosby, Stills & Nash on their landmark debut. Both artists would go gone to shape modern music with visionary approaches, but Stills & Collins’ short fiery union remains a transformative era for the two artists.

This summer, the two icons of folk will celebrate the golden anniversary of their formative time together. Their joint summer tour marks the first time ever Stills and Collins have been onstage together and they are making a stop at the SMG-managed Coronado Performing Arts Center in Rockford, IL. on Friday, June 8, 2018. For this once in a lifetime experience, the two music legends will pull from their rich catalogs, debut songs from their new album, out Summer of 2017, and share warm and intimate stories from their journeys and the1960s folk and Laurel Canyon scenes they helped build.

Tickets go on sale Friday, April 6 at 10AM. Tickets will be available for purchase directly at the Coronado PAC box office (314 N Main St. Rockford, IL 61101), over the phone at 800-745-3000, or online at www.Ticketmaster.com.

Stills & Collins met in 1967 and dated for two years. Stills wrote and demoed his legendary love song to Collins right after he left Buffalo Springfield, before he joined CSN. “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes” is a five-section romantic epic brimming with heartfelt sincerity. The song has been ranked #418 in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Songs Of All Time Poll.

Stills is known for his work with Buffalo Springfield, Crosby, Stills & Nash, and his solo work. In addition to “Suite: Judy Blue Eyes,” Stills is best known for the hits “ For What It’s Worth” by Buffalo Springfield and “Love The One You’re With” from his solo debut, Stephen Stills. He’s a multi-instrumentalist, composer, and ranked #28 in Rolling Stone Magazine’s “The 100 Greatest Guitarists Of All Time.” He also has the added distinction of being the first artist to be inducted into the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame twice in one night (for his work with CSN and Buffalo Springfield). He recently released a sophomore album with The Rides, the blues-rock supergroup he formed in 2013 with Kenny Wayne Shepherd and Barry Goldberg, and is currently putting the finishing touches on his long-awaited, much-anticipated autobiography.

‘Stills & Collins’ was released on the heels of a very busy period for Collins, who released an album in 2015 and 2016.  2015’s ‘Strangers Again’ earned Judy her highest Billboard 200 debut in almost 30 years, and 2016’s ‘Silver Skies Blue’ duets album with Ari Hest earned a GRAMMY nomination for Best Folk Album.  She’s recently been described by the NY Times as the “ageless wild angel of pop,” appeared in HBO’s Girls, and released the book ‘Cravings: How I Conquered Food’ in February 2017.

KENNY G LIVE IN CONCERT ::

KENNY G LIVE IN CONCERT Date: Friday June 29, 2018
Time: 8:00 PM
Location: Coronado Performing Arts Center

Tickets

In a recording career that spans almost three decades and 23 albums, Grammy Award-winning saxophonist, Kenny G, has grafted elements of R&B, pop and Latin to a jazz foundation solidifying his reputation as the premiere artist in contemporary jazz. Since the early ‘80s, his combination of unparalleled instrumental chops and indelible melodies has resulted in sales of more than 75 million records worldwide (45 million in the U.S. alone) and more than a dozen climbs to the top of Billboard’s contemporary jazz chart.

Given these and other commercial and critical achievements, one might think Kenny is an artist with nothing to prove, but he once again reaffirms his enduring place in popular music with the June 2010, release of Heart and Soul on Concord Records.

Following up on the success of Rhythm and Romance, his first Latin jazz album and his Concord debut in 2008, Heart and Soul captures the spirit and the vibe of the classic R&B that Kenny grew up listening to in his native Seattle. “If I were to go back and start all over again, recording my first CD, I think this would be it,” he says. “It’s true to my roots, it has soul, and it has the kind of R&B that influenced me in the first place. Making this record was a heartfelt experience. It took a year and a half to finish, because we paid a lot of attention to every song, every melody, every note.”

Kenny G takes the stage of the SMG-Managed Coronado Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 29, 2018. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 20 at Ticketmaster.com, over the phone, at the Coronado PAC and the BMO Harris Bank box office.
